Join us on an Iraq Tour in April 2022. Take in important holy sites and wild landscapes from Baghdad to the Mesopotamian Marshes.
Iraq Tour Itinerary
Iraq Tour Day 1 & 2: Baghdad
Arrivals will happen throughout the earlier part of our first day, with our guide greeting you at the airport and taking you to the hotel in the city we’ll be staying at for the first two nights.
Once everyone has arrived we will have a quick briefing on the do’s and don’ts, as well as info on the region and route we will be taking.
The remainder of the first day will be spent getting a feel for Baghdad.
All of day two of the Iraq itinerary will be spent exploring everything Baghdad has to offer-bazaars, mosques, monuments, churches, and more. We will also take some time to visit the National Museum of Iraq to see an array of artifacts and items belonging to the Mesopotamian, Babylonian, and Persian civilizations.

Iraq Tour Day 3: Babylon & Karbala
Getting an early start today, we will make way to two of the grandest historical sites in all of the Middle East, the ruins of Ctesiphon that dates back to the Sassanian era, and the remnants of the hanging gardens and mythical city of Babylonia. If time permits, we’ll also try to pay a visit to Saddam’s Palace near Hillah.
In the afternoon, we’ll head toward the important Shia city of Karbala, one of their holiest cities. Shias from Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and beyond make pilgrimages to this holy city.

Iraq Tour Day 4: Najaf & Kufa
From Karbala, we’ll continue exploring the Shia holy sites around Najaf and Kufa. Highlights include the Imam Ali Shrine, Central Bazaar, the Great Mosque of Kufa, and the Old Cemetery.

Iraq Tour Day 5: Ur & Nasiriyah
Continuing the journey south, well first head for the ancient city of Ur, where we’ll take time to Etemenniguru, the most impressive Sumerian Ziggurat in Iraq.
In the afternoon we will make our way to Nasiriyah to see Iraq’s fourth largest city to explore the famed spice market.

Iraq Tour Day 6: Basra
In the morning we’ll start driving to Iraq’s only seaport of Basra. We’ll take time to check out Shatt-al-Arab Corniche, Old Town, Central Souq, History Museum, Saddam’s Palace, and the Central Railway Station.

Iraq Tour Day 7: Mesopotamian Marshes
Our last full day will be spent exploring the unique aquatic Mesopotamian Marshes, home to the Arab Shia population of the Ma’dan. We’ll take in the marshes landscapes of the by boat. We will have lunch in the afternoon with Ma’dan locals.
The latter half of the day will be spent back in Basra enjoying urban life and hanging out in local coffee shops.

- Unfortunately, Israeli passport holders are unable to join this trip as they will be denied entry into Iraq.
- You will be denied entry to Iraq if there is any evidence of travel to Israel in any passport.
